TNOU Admission 2025: Tamil Nadu Open University (TNOU) has started inviting candidates to get enrolled to any desired program for the upcoming session 2025-26. The university is offering admission to multiple distance learning programs such as Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Vocational Diploma, and Certificate. Students will be able to submit the online application until an expected last date of 30 September 2025.

TNOU accepts admission based on the marks obtained by a candidate in their last qualifying examination. But for special courses like BEd applicants have to appear in an entrance exam which is conducted by the university itself. At the time of applying for any preferred program applicants have to pay a registration fee of INR 300 which is non-refundable. About University: Tamil Nadu Open University (TNOU) is a state university for distance learning programs which is located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. This university was established in the year 2002. The distance learning programs offered at the university are approved by the UGC (University Grant Commission). It has received an A+ grade by the NAAC (National Accreditation and Assessment Commission). More than 40 courses are offered through distance mode at the TNOU. As of January 2016, it was one of 14 state open universities in India. India also has one national open university called Indira Gandhi National Open University. By April 2017, it became one of 111 institutions in the country that offer distance learning.

However, this university also accepts Demand Draft for payment of fees.

Eligibility Criteria for TNOU Admission 2025 

To apply for any UG, PG, Diploma, or Certificate program candidates have to fulfill all the basic eligibility criteria of Tamil Nadu Open University (TNOU). Each course has different eligibility requirements. Admission to all programs are based on merit of a candidate, however, those who are applying for the BEd program need to appear in an entrance examination. Here are some of the points that students have to meet before applying for the admission: 

• For admission to any undergraduate program students have to clear an intermediate examination with a minimum of 45% marks from any reputed board. 
• Admission to postgraduate courses is offered to those applicants who have qualified their bachelor’s degree in any relevant specialization with at least 50% marks from an UGC approved university or institute. 
• TNOU has not set any maximum age criteria for admission however applicants should be of 17 years of age while taking admission. 
• Admission to both Diploma and Certificate programs is offered to those candidates who have passed the 10+2 examination or hold a bachelor’s degree respectively.

Tamil Nadu Open University offers undergraduate courses through distance learning. The programs include BA, BCom, BBA, BSc, BCA, and BEd, which covers multiple specializations such as Chemistry, Botany, Physics, Zoology, Political Science, Economics, Sociology, Tamil, and many more. Students can take a minimum of 3 years to complete any UG program. The examination is conducted based on the semester.

The UG course fee at TNOU ranges between INR 3600 to INR 10300 per semester. While getting registered students need to pay INR 300 as a registration fee. Students can pursue these courses through various disciplines such as Criminology and Criminal Justice, Political Science, Psychology, Tamil, History, Maths, Geography, Botany, and more. 2 years along with 4 semesters is the duration required to complete any PG program. 

TNOU has started offering admission to these courses for the current session 2025-26 and the deadline for the submission of the online application form is 30 September 2025. Having a bachelor’s degree in any stream is mandatory to take admission at TNOU PG courses with a minimum of 50% marks. INR 3950 to INR 13300 is the course fee for all postgraduate programs at TNOU. INR 300 is the registration fee for all programs.
