RBU Distance Education: Rabindra Bharati University’s Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE), earlier known as the Directorate of Distance Education, provides flexible learning opportunities for students who cannot attend regular classes. The centre was created to expand access to higher education across West Bengal, especially in the fields of arts, fine arts, and social sciences. Learners receive academic support through printed materials, online study resources, recorded lectures, and periodic contact classes offered at various study centres.

Established in 1962 in Kolkata under the Rabindra Bharati Act, the university is a tribute to Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore. It is widely known for its excellence in performing arts and humanities. All distance education programmes are approved by UGC-DEB, and the university holds a prestigious NAAC ‘A’ grade. The CDOE functions with approval from the state higher education department and operates within the academic framework of Rabindra Bharati University.

For the July 2026 session, the RBU university will accept applications from June 2026* for their PG distance education programmes such as MA and MSW through its official online portal @rbucdoe.ac.in, and the last date to complete the RBU Distance Education admission will be 30 July 2026*. Eligible graduates can apply online and pay an application fee of INR 300.

RBU DDE admission registration will starts started from first week of June 2026*, the last date to apply being around 30 July 2026* for the July session 2026. Candidates are required to full fill the eligibility criteria, which is a bachelor’s degree with 45% marks. Admission process at RBU Distance Education is entirely based on merit, and no entrance exam is necessary. 

RBU offers 11 UGC-DEB-approved PG programs, which include MA in Bengali, MA in English, MA in History, MA in Political Science, MA in Rabindra Sangeet, Master of Social Work (MSW), and more via its ODL mode. These courses generally take 2 years to complete, which includes 4 semesters. The Average program fees range from Rs 5,000 to Rs 12,000 per semester, depending on the chosen MA subject, with additional exam fees between Rs 2,500 and Rs 5,000.

Students who are eligible and interested in getting admission at RBU Distance Education can submit online forms at rbucdoe.ac.in , and have to pay Rs 300 as an application fee through various payment options, including debit/credit card, net banking, UPI, or bank challan.

• For MA programs: The candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in the concerned subject or an equivalent degree, with at least 45% to 50% marks from a recognized university.
• For MSW: A graduate in any field is eligible to apply.
• All admissions are based on merit—there is no entrance examination, which makes the process easier and more convenient.

Rabindra Bharati University DDE PG Admission will be from 5 June 2026*, with the application last date of 30 July 2026* for the July 2026 session. RBU CDOE provides 2-year MA and MSW courses in Bengali, English, History, Political Science, Education, Environmental Studies, Geography, Vocal Music, Rabindra Sangeet, and Social Work. 

There are merit-based admissions to PG courses at Rabindra Bharati University, and no entrance test is required. Applicants with a suitable UG degree in a relevant field with at least 45–50% marks can apply for admission. Interested candidates are free to apply online via the official website of the university by paying an application fee of Rs 300 and the program fee of Rs 5,000 to Rs 12,000 per semester.
